Industrial Maintenance & Service Corp. was founded in 1977. IMS has been in the crane, rigging, and hauling services for 30 years. Over the years we have expanded to include machinery moving, specialized hauling, and crating and export packaging.
IMS currently operates with twenty-five field employees and six office employees. Over time, IMS has adapted to the changing needs of our industry. We have added the necessary materials and technology to stay competitive for our customers as well as with competitors.
Response time coupled with the mentality to get the job done has earned us allegiance with our Richmond customers as well as clients along the east coast. Dealing with IMS means customers are confident that we can and will do a good job when called upon.
Current fleet equipment includes crane service from six tons to seventy tons, specialized hauling with eight tractors, seven tilt-bed rollback trucks three hydraulic trailers, seven tie-down van trailers, forklifts ranging from 4000# to 21500#, and six rigging trucks equipped with necessary tooling for many different applications.
John P. Bierowski -- President
John's experience in the hauling, rigging, and millwright service field extends over 4 decades. He holds a BA in Economics from the University of Richmond which he received in 1970. He was co-founder of Industrial Maintenance & Service in 1977 and became president of the company in 2005. His fierce loyalty to his employees and clientele along with his seasoned experience make him a valued leader in the company.
Jonathan P. Bierowski -- Vice President
Jonathan grew up around the business and worked summers for his dad, John. He later followed his dad's example and pursued a degree in Economics. He graduated from Hampden-Sydney in 1999 and immediately started working full-time in the office at IMS. Under the training of his dad, Jonathan helped run dispatch and operations for the company. As of 2005 he holds the position of Vice-president. He is a visionary leader for IMS as it adapts to the changing needs of the industry.
Lance Berbert -- Sales Manager
Lance served our country as a marine on the front lines after he graduated from high school. Later, he used his business skills from his years at Virginia Commonwealth University to manage and supervise workers in the piping and rigging fields. Lance joined the IMS family in 2005 with almost 10 years experience in the crane & rigging business. Lance contributes a positive energy to IMS and pursues potential clients with enthusiasm and knowledge of a customer's needs.
Dave Grubbs -- Sales/Safety Director
Dave has been in the crane and rigging service for the past 4 decades. He was employed as a crane operator and truck driver over that period of time. He has been at IMS for 25 years and has operated cranes, trucks, dispatched, and is currently concentrated in sales and safety management. Dave's wealth of hands on field experience has proven invaluable as far as servicing the needs within our industry.

I can't say enough about how well your team performed last Thursday night in getting a very important piece of our business moved in a short period of time. Steve and his guys were very professional in their approach and planning and it really showed in their execution. We were 1.5 hours behind schedule when we got to Steve's steps, his team performed flawlessly and when they were done moving the gear to RDE (IMS's part of the project) we were actually an hour ahead of schedule. They saved us 2.5 hours total and that turned out to be a huge deal in the overall project execution. I can tell you this without a doubt, when I move gear in the future, IMS WILL be my first choice for getting that type of work done.
